What is Android like?

If you’ve never used Android before then you might be wondering what it’s like. There are lots of things to like about Android – and lots of things that are annoying, but that’s a different post – so if you’re going to be making the switch between an iPhone and an Android phone then you probably won’t be disappointed.

One of the best things about the Android operating system is how flexible it is. You can easily adapt it to suit your own needs, so you’re not so fixed into what a company wants you to use your phone for. The Android app store is much less strictly regulated, meaning there are a number of apps you can find on there that you simply wouldn’t be able to find on the iPhone store. This does come with its problems – for example there is much chance of finding a virus in an app on an Android phone, although not if you’re careful  – but means that your phone is yours to do what you want with it. There is a feeling with the iPhone that it really doesn’t belong to you – you can’t customize it to do what you want, and you’re completely tied by how Apple want you to use the phone. There are no such problems on Android.
